Dylan, Warhol and Elvis
This picture (Nat Finkelstein) is from Dylan’s visit at the Factory , New York, december 1965. Dylan agreed to participate in Warhol’s 15 Minutes of Silence. According to Harold Lepidus (Dylan examiner) Dylan got up and walked over to one of Warhol’s panels of Elvis with a gun and said, “I think I’ll just take this for payment, man”. Dylan had the ‘double’ Elvis in his Woodstock home. Dylan told Spin Magazine in 1985 he traded the painting for a sofa. Saying that he “regretted it” and that it “was a stupid thing to do”. Does anybody know the other person holding the painting? According to Andy Warhol (source: Warhol Giant size) he did “fifty Elvises one day”. According to Wikipedia the eight elvises Warhol made in 1963 was sold for $ 100 million.
