flecton asked: i'd have to say it's worth re-visiting. when you get past the 80s production it is my firm belief that there are great songs under the sheen. i agree with knocked out loaded but i do have a soft spot for "brownsville girl". i saw a snippet of a video for that song but have never been able to find the entire video. i think it's a great story song and a good sunday morning song.

Maybe I will revisit Empire Burlesque. Maybe Dylan should make a naked version (like the Beatles let it be album). I agree on Brownsville girl. That’s a superb song. I was in the US when the album came out (bought it on cassette) and played it over and over again (here’s my litmus test again) on the way from Oxford (Mississippi) to Las Vegas. I think only Dylan can do this type of songs. Even if it would be double the length, you are still forced to listen (‘cross the green mountain is also such a lengthy compelling song). Rest of Knocked out loaded is crap.
